The Jammu and Kashmir Small Scale Industries Development Corporation Limited (SICOP) came into existence in the year 1975, under Companies Act 1956, as a fully owned Jammu and Kashmir Government undertaking with authorized capital of Rs. 100.00 crore and paid-up-capital of Rs.89.91 crore.

The Main Objectives of the Corporation are:

To aid, assist, safeguard and promote MSMEs in the J&K
To provide infrastructural facilities in the form of Industrial Estates to the MSMEs
To provide Marketing Cover to the products being produced by the local industry in the J&K
To provide various types of raw materials to the industrial units/Govt. Departments;
To undertake various developmental works “called deposit works” of various Government departments/organisation;
To provide testing facility to the products being manufactured by the local industry in the J&K.
To provide IT enabled service to cater IT requirement of Industries & Commerce Department to carry forward the business reforms besides other Govt./Semi Govt. Departments/Agencies.

SICOP also undertakes:-

Consignment cum Handling Agents of Steel Authority of India (SAIL) in Kashmir
Consignment Agent of M/S. Reliance India Limited (RIL) in J&K for distribution of Plastic Granules.
Consignment Agent of Bharat Petroleum in J&K for distribution of Bitumen.
Nodal Agency for providing SAIL/ TISCO/ RASTRIYA ISPAT material to all Govt. Departments of J&K.
Nodal Agency of Coal India Limited (CIL) for distribution of Coal to brick kiln units.
Implementing Agency for implementation of Pashmina Raw Material Bank (RMB) scheme of Ministry of Textiles, Govt. of India for procurement of Pashmina from Ladakh and its sale among the artisans/weavers/firms associated with it in the J&K.

In furtherance of the above objectives, SICOP, over a period of time, has played a pivotal role in developing small-scale sector in J&K State on sustained basis and has contributed significantly in promotion of Small Scale Industrial Sector in the State. With the passage of time the Corporation has expanded its areas of operation to other activities as per mandate and today it has District Offices in all District Headquarters besides Head office, Divisional Office and Main Raw Material Depots at Divisional Level.

SICOP is presently managing 44 Industrial Estate throughout J&K and Ladakh UTs comprising of 7455 kanals.

SICOP is not receiving any budgetary support from the State Govt. All the Revenue Expenditures are being generated internally and has no statuary /non-statutory liability as on date.
